AMTA's "Journal of Music Therapy" (JMT) currently is featuring an issue on arts based research. Guest Editor, Dr. Jane Edwards coordinated the special issue and is highlighted in an interview published by the Oxford University Press blog site.

Since 2005, AMTA and CBMT have collaborated on a State Recognition Operational Plan. The primary purpose of this plan is to get music therapy and the MT-BC credential recognized by individual states so that citizens can more easily access our services.The AMTA Government Relations staff and the CBMT Regulatory Affairs staff provide guidance and technical support to state task forces throughout the country as they work towards state recognition.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015. ESSA marks the first overhaul of the nation's main elementary and secondary education law since the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002. This bipartisan measure reauthorizes the nation’s national education law, the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
