Music therapist Kathleen Brown brings music to Baylor Scott and White Cancer Center to help patients struggling with their treatments. Brown introduced this music therapy program in October and with the help of a grant from the Livestrong Foundation, has been able to work with 55 patients as of February 2015.

Empire's description of music therapy "isn’t just a way to shoehorn music into every aspect of the TV show. Instead, said Al Bumanis, a board-certified music therapist, the show is correct to represent music therapy as a powerful tool for people coping with mental illness."

Be sure to watch "World News Tonight with David Muir" on ABC for a story featuring former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her music therapy team. AMTA coordinated this segment with producers who interviewed many music therapists from around the country. Check your local listings and, as always, scheduling is subject to change.

Congresswoman Gabby Giffords returned to Houston's TIRR Memorial Herman and was reunited with Board Certified Music Therapist, Maegan Morrow, with a song from "Annie." Her husband, Mark Kelly captured the moment on his phone and it was reported in the "New York Daily News."
