The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project, a project of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), is pleased to announce the awarding of a $56,875 matching grant to Swedish Medical Center Foundation for its music therapy initiative to increase music therapy services at the Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) and the Swedish Multiple Sclerosis Center (MS Center).

Information presented in this e-course in conjunction with the research literature and available resources provides a solid platform necessary to develop or expand a music therapy program in a medical setting as well as the opportunity to earn 3 CMTE credits from the American Music Therapy Association (CBMT Approved Provider #P-051).

Emotion Regulation (ER) development occurs in early childhood. Music therapists encounter many clinical populations who experience barriers to healthy ER development for a variety of reasons. The AMTA Board of Directors' mid-year meeting was very productive. Highlights included 1st person accounts to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Senate Hearing on Aging; a journal report from Oxford University Press; an overall orientation; financial introduction, review of Fiscal Year 2016, approval of 2017 Budget; reports from 3 Councils & the MLE subcommittee; & reports from officers & staff. Draft motions from the 2016 Mid-Year meeting are included at the end of this report.

AMTA and CBMT are excited to announce that, on May 27, 2016, Governor Malloy of Connecticut signed into law HB 5537. This legislation includes language stating that music therapy services can only be provided by those who hold the MT-BC credential.

“The Same Sky Project,” was an “out of the box” keynote address for the two-day National Institutes of Health (NIH) summit, “Rehabilitation Research at NIH: Moving the Field Forward.” This production put music therapy on the radar of attendees and served as a catalyst for questions about research and reimbursement in music therapy and training of music therapists.
