Candidates’ Biographical Summaries & Responses to Questions about Elected Positions & the music therapy profession may be found here. Current 2013 Professional, Retired & Honorary Life AMTA members should be prepared to vote as usual via the US Postal Service. Your ballot will be mailed on 11/12/13, so expect to see it in your mailbox within a week of that date. Your completed ballot must be submitted in the official envelope & postmarked on or before 12/12/13. No exceptions will be made.

Information about the music therapy profession can be found in AMTA's annually published AMTA Member Survey and Workforce Analysis, “A Descriptive Statistical Profile of the AMTA Membership,” which contains a detailed, descriptive statistical narrative about demographics, employment, salaries, and other helpful facts.

New York music therapists now have an official "clarification letter" from the New York State Education Department regarding the recognition of music therapy as a related service under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the federal special education law. This letter will be instrumental in supporting the provision of quality music therapy services in school districts throughout the state for any child found to be in need of music therapy.

Music therapist, Alison Tompkins, MT-BC, was featured on the Today Show on 9/12/13. Her work with an innovative mobile van called “Wings on Wheels” or “WOW,” providing services to children with cancer and those experiencing grief, was highlighted. Alison is an adjunct faculty member at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Ruth Boxberger, 93, passed away on September 8, 2013. AMTA mourns the loss of this Music Therapy Pioneer.
