In a time of mourning, shock, and anger, Team Rainbow is reaching out to the LGBTQ and Ally music therapy community to come together in reflection upon a devastating mass murder. On June 23, 2016, 9:00 pm Eastern time, Team Rainbow will host a video conference open to any music therapist or music therapy student who identifies as LGBTQAI or as an Ally to give voice to our thoughts, listen, and support each other.

Brigadier General Kathleen Cook convened an historic meeting on May 26, 2016, to explore the possibility of collaborations between the Air Force Bands and music therapy programs at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Langley Air Force Base, and Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The AMTA Board of Directors’ 2016 Mid-Year meeting will be held June 24, 2016 through June 26, 2016 at the Maritime Institute & Conference Center next to the Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport. “The Same Sky Project,” was an “out of the box” keynote address for the two-day National Institutes of Health (NIH) summit, “Rehabilitation Research at NIH: Moving the Field Forward.” This production put music therapy on the radar of attendees and served as a catalyst for questions about research and reimbursement in music therapy and training of music therapists.
