The American Music Therapy Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and accepts contributions which support its mission. Contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.
 
The AMTA office will close at 4:00 pm on December 18, 2018 for its winter break. The office will reopen on January 2, 2019. Please note that even if you order through the online store during this time period, orders will not be processed until the office reopens on January 2. Happy holidays one and all and we'll see you in the new year!

In response to the findings and recommendations of the Master Level Entry Subcommittee, the AMTA Board of Directors is taking action to create a Commission on the Education and Clinical Training of 21st Century Music Therapists. Nominations to elect six AMTA members to the Commission need to be submitted to an Assembly Delegate no later than Nov. 2, 2018.

Enacted by Congress in 2010, House Resolution 275 designates September 9th – 15th as National Arts in Education Week. During this week, members of the arts education community from across the country are encouraged to participate in activities that raise awareness about the importance of arts education with elected officials.

"Learning and Bonding to the Beat: Optimizing Your Child’s Development" with Dr. Laurel Trainor and Special Guests (part of Sound Health: Music and the Mind). Elizabeth Schwartz, Judy Simpson, Jane Creagan, Rebecca Preddie, Dr. Joanne Loewy, Dr. Ed Roth, Dr. Charles Limb, Dr. Nina Kraus will participate in sessions with information about music therapy. AMTA has collaborated with our spokesperson, Reneé Fleming in preparation for the panel discussion on music education.

The AMTA Nominating Committee is now considering potential candidates to be placed on the slate for the offices of AMTA President Elect and Vice President Elect. The slate will be presented at the AMTA Business meeting in November 2018 and the election will be held in late 2019.
