Online registration is now open for “IMPROVING ACCESS AND QUALITY: MUSIC THERAPY RESEARCH 2025” (MTR 2025) scheduled July 16-18, 2015. This is a working symposium sponsored by AMTA to recommend guidance for future research in music therapy. Interested music therapy professionals are invited to attend this meeting as general attendees and observers on a first-come, first served basis until meeting room capacity is reached.

Music therapists recognize clients often want the same thing from music therapy as all people want from music: an essentially musical experience that meets an inborn need. In music-centered thinking, musical experiences are not merely tools to nonmusical ends, but can also serve as appropriate goals of music therapy. Friend of music therapy Corey Bergman and his Ukulele Kids Club was recently featured on "NBC Nightly News." The organization has donated over 500 ukuleles to music therapy programs.

Music therapist Kathleen Brown brings music to Baylor Scott and White Cancer Center to help patients struggling with their treatments. Brown introduced this music therapy program in October and with the help of a grant from the Livestrong Foundation, has been able to work with 55 patients as of February 2015.
