October 2022 Updates *Note: The link to the October 6 board meeting can be found in the Videos section. To register for the upcoming board meeting, use the link found in the October 25 Board Meeting section. * In order to better inform the music therapy community of events and topics important to music therapists, music therapy students, clients, and other stakeholders, we continue to work to expand how we provide information. The AMTA Workforce Development and Retention Committee is pleased to make available our survey results from one of our assigned goals from the board of directors to collect information regarding the music therapy workforce and create a retention plan.
 
The next AMTA Board of Directors Meeting will take place on October 25th, 8:00-9:30 pm ET. As with the past few BOD and Assembly meetings, this meeting will be open and accessible to everyone in the music therapy community.

Carol Collins 1927 – 2022 It is with deep sadness that we share the death of Carol Collins, a beloved music therapy pioneer and educator. She was one of the first music therapy interns to train with Dr. Ira Altshuler during the late 1940’s at Eloise Hospital (later named Wayne County General Hospital and Infirmary) in Detroit, Michigan.

2022 AMTA Symposium attendees will have access to a special interactive screening of Orchestrating Change, a film about the world’s only orchestra for people living with mental illness. A Q&A with the filmmakers and musicians featured in the film will follow.
