The Combating Autism Reauthorization Act (CARA) of 2011, was signed into law on September 30, 2011 by President Obama. The law authorizes $693 million in continued federal investment over three years for autism research, treatment and services.

Seattle, WA - September 16, 2011 - As part of The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project (WTMTP), the American Music Therapy Association is pleased to announce a Program Announcement: Pay-It-Forward Microloans. The purpose of this Program Announcement is to improve music therapy service availability and accessibility in the Puget Sound region of Washington. This program provides small grant funding and is open to qualified AMTA-member music therapists residing in the Puget Sound region.
 
AMTA is proud to announce that two of the most prestigious organizations in Washington, D.C., the Levine School of Music and Children’s National Medical Center, recently hired AMTA members to start brand-new music therapy programs.

Ten years ago we gasped and held our collective breath. Music therapists slowly exhaled, gathered together, and set forth on a journey of healing and hope that continues today.
