Music Therapy Featured in NCCIH Clinical Digest
April 14, 2016 01:16 PM
Music therapy is featured in the April 2016 edition of
NCCIH Clinical Digest
, the monthly e-newsletter of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the federal focal point for medical research in the United States.
NCCIH Clinical Digest
offers evidence-based information on complementary health approaches, including scientific literature searches, summaries of NCCIH-funded research, fact sheets for patients, and more. According to the article, “The evidence base on efficacy of music therapy for children with ASD consists of several studies and a recent Cochrane systematic review."
The article can be found at:
https://nccih.nih.gov/health/providers/digest/autism-spectrum-disorder
AMTA has worked closely with NIH for many years and presented an historic research sharing
event in April of 2014
where key NIH representatives were able to hear presentations from music therapists and explored new areas of research, expectations from the NIH community, and next steps in research and collaboration. We hope that these relationships will continue to produce more recognition like the
NCCIH Clinical Digest
feature in the future.
