Associate Editor Appointments to the Journal of Music Therapy and Music Therapy Perspectives
The American Music Therapy Association welcomes three new Associate Editors to AMTA’s journals. Joining the Music Therapy Perspectives (MTP) Editorial team is Laura Beer, PhD, MT-BC. Dr. Beer will be joining Dr. Jennifer Jones as a second Associate Editor involved in supporting the peer review process for MTP articles. In addition, two newly created Associate Editor positions will focus on communications and dissemination of journal content, including outreach to both internal and external audiences for the many excellent articles published in the journals. Working in cooperation with the Editors, Drs. Sheri Robb and Tony Meadows and AMTA’s publishing partner, Oxford University Press, Kimberly Sena Moore, PhD, MT-BC will be supporting the Journal of Music Therapy (JMT) and Noah Potvin, MMT, LPC, MT-BC will be supporting Music Therapy Perspectives (MTP).

Music Therapy Perspectives, Associate Editor
Laura Beer, PhD, MT-BC, is Chair of Art, Music & Creative Arts Therapies and Music Therapy Program Director at Marylhurst University. She has authored numerous journal articles, a monograph, and is a published songwriter. Laura’s current clinical work is in the NICU setting, and her research pursuits include multicultural issues in music therapy and arts-based research.
Journal of Music Therapy, Associate Editor - Communications
Kimberly Sena Moore, PhD, MT-BC joined the Frost School of Music faculty at the University of Miami in Fall 2014. She serves as Regulatory Affairs Associate for the Certification Board for Music Therapists, where she is involved in state-level legislative and policy issues affecting music therapy practice. Kimberly’s research interests center on music therapy and emotion regulation development. She co-hosts the Music Therapy Round Table podcast, and blogs at “Your Musical Self” for Psychology Today and Music Therapy Maven.
Music Therapy Perspectives, Associate Editor - Communications
Noah Potvin, MMT, LPC, MT-BC, is a doctoral candidate in creative arts therapies at Drexel University. His dissertation explores the role of music therapy for familial hospice caregivers during pre-bereavement. Noah will begin a position as full-time lecturer of music therapy at the University of Dayton in the Fall. Noah has published and presented on theoretical and clinical development in medical and end-of-life music therapy. He is co-founder and co-editor of the Music Therapy in End-of-Life Care blog, and co-founder and co-moderator of the Music Therapy and Hospice & Palliative Care Facebook group.
