A Note from our Partners in Publishing, Oxford University Press
February 25, 2016 05:18 PM
AMTA members recently made us aware of a bug in our online journals platform. When attempting to access content from the Journal of Music Therapy and Music Therapy Perspectives, some users were denied access and prompted to provide login credentials, despite the fact that they had access to the journals from the trusted members-only section of the AMTA site. The OUP IT team immediately began working with our platform provider, HighWire Press, to identify and correct the problem. After several weeks, HighWire had a fix prepared for the bug. After running tests, however, they discovered that the “fix” had the potential to create other cascading failures in the system. They have thus elected to delay the implementation of the solution until the next full platform upgrade, scheduled for mid-March, so that they can guarantee that the access issue can be corrected without creating new system errors.
In order to minimize the inconvenience to AMTA members that this bug in our platform causes, OUP has worked with the AMTA national office to create a temporary login profile for AMTA members so that you can still enjoy full access to JMT and MTP content while we work to the correct the problem. The temporary login credentials for the OUP site can be found by clicking on this link to go to the AMTA Member Toolkit. Alternatively, if you are a member who needs a copy of a specific article sent to you immediately and you are unable to obtain it using the temporary login information found in the member toolkit, feel free to call the AMTA national office (301-589-3300) and they will be happy to make every attempt to email you a pdf.
We apologize for the nuisance this problem has created. Please know that we are doing everything possible to remedy this problem so that it does not recur or cause other problems. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sara McNamara at Oxford University Press at Sara.McNamara@oup.com.
