LIVESTRONG Foundation Grants Awarded

April 24, 2014 02:36 PM

A big shout out to Leah Oswanski, MA, LPC, MT-BC, who spearheaded the drive to fund additional music therapy programs with Board Certified Music Therapist at thirteen sites nationwide, based on the model developed in Morristown, New Jersey at the Jeffrey Frank Wacks Music Therapy Program. The LIVESTRONG Foundation partnered with Morristown Medical Center and its Jeffrey Frank Wacks Music Therapy Program to replicate this program model across the United States.

The LIVESTRONG Foundation solicited and offered thirteen grants of $15,600 each, along with a year of paid consulting services to awarded sites. The Jeffrey Frank Wacks Music Therapy Program finalist organizations for the Community Impact Project were determined through an online voting campaign that accumulated more than 100,000 votes over an 18-day period (March 24-April 11). Finalists for the awards were determined by individual votes within each region.

The 2014 music therapy recipients are:

  • Baylor Scott & White Cancer Center – Waco, Texas
  • Broward Health – Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
  • Cleveland Clinic/Hillcrest Hospital – Cleveland, Ohio
  • Greenville Health System – Greenville, South Carolina
